About you

Do you have a NGB Instructor qualification.

Do you have a valid First Aid qualification.

Do you have the ability to provide safe, purposeful and fun sessions for our young people.

Are you able and confident to communicate well with children with SEMH.

Do you want to pass on your passion for the outdoors by providing outdoor activities to a range of individual students and groups.

Main Duties

· To be responsible for the safe running of the group or one to one session for the whole time the young person/people are in your care.

· To plan a programme of activities that is suitable for each group or young person that you work with and that reflects their needs and experience. You should record their progress towards National Governing Body qualifications after each lesson

· To ensure that you have the correct equipment and qualification to supervise any activity you lead.

· To ensure that all activities have a risk assessment and continue to assess the changing nature of the risk each time you work with a group or individual young person, this should include obtaining an up to date and relevant weather forecast.

· To provide feedback to RP School, referring agencies, parents or carers, this may be in form of a weekly update or verbal report.

· To ensure that all records regarding students are kept up to date and are easily accessible for other staff who may teach that group on another occasion.

Normally under the above Act, some criminal convictions do not have to be disclosed after a period of time when they become “spent”. This does NOT apply to posts having regular contact as part of their normal and routine duties with children under the age of 18 or vulnerable adults. Due to the nature of the work for which you are applying, this post is made exempt from these rules by the above Order. This will be treated in the strictest confidence as specified in the Criminal Records Bureau Code of Practice, and will be considered only in relation to this application. The role involves engaging in regulated activity relevant to children, schools, and colleges. It is an offence to apply for the role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children'

Experience:

  • Special education: 1 year (preferred)
  • Outdoor Instructing: 1 year (required)

A Driving Licence is essential for this post
