About Us

This group consists of practitioners who have passion for the outdoors and understand the impact that engaging with nature can have on children and young people..

A community which gathers those with a passion for delivering high quality Alternative Provision to the education sector using outdoor activities as a tool for engaging young people in purposeful activities. 

The aim of this group is to:

  • Use the outdoors as a way of standing in the gap between the marginalised and society.
  • Recognise, learn and exchange ideas for best practice being delivered in the outdoors.
  • Share frameworks of assessment to demonstrate progress made by a child/ young person on an AP programme.
  • Represent IOL members who are delivering Alternative Provision.
  • Enable members to give children & young people the opportunity to make good choices.

  • Children & young people (0 – 18 yrs old).
  • Outdoor Education practitioners.
  • Education establishments.
  • IOL to welcome new members.
