Join our family-run adventure school on the shores of a sheltered sea loch in the northwest Highlands. We are looking for instructors with a love of wild places to work with us (Rebecca and Mark) in the mountains and on the sea as part of our 2025 team.
We run one-week adventure courses for schools, two-week expedition summer camps for 14–17-year-olds, and occasional sea kayaking day trips. All our courses make the most of the incredible mountains and seascapes on our doorstep. Our family has been running courses here since 1969.
Mountain days and expeditions with wild camping, rock climbing, sea kayaking, wild swimming, survival skills, lobster creeling and an independent survival night for our school teams on an uninhabited island. We only run one course at a time, and we get to know all the participants well.
We are looking for good communicators, with passion, enthusiasm, and a willingness to help motivated young people grow and develop through challenging adventures in remote places.
It’s a magical place to spend the summer season with great scope for personal development and adventures on your days off.
What qualifications?
We look for instructors with AT LEAST TWO OF the following qualifications.
- Summer Mountain Leader (fundamental to every course here)
- Rock Climbing Instructor
- British Canoeing qualifications suitable for working in ‘Sheltered Water’ environments in kayaks or ideally BC Sea Kayak Leader.
If you are short of one of the key NGB qualifications listed above, or only part way there, do still apply. Depending on the structure of the team in any given season, we may be able to support instructors with training, supervision, and site-specific assessment so you can work with your group for the whole course.
A commercially endorsed RYA Level 2 Powerboat (coastal) and any form of sea, surf or coasteering life-saving qualification is also useful.
Running our foraging and survival skills, lobster creeling and facilitating survival island will all be learned here with us.
