As part of the Delta Education Trust, Delta Bespoke manages and runs a series of Outdoor Education Centres for young people. Our vision, Happiness in the Pursuit of Learning embodies our passion for creating learning and educational opportunities for students who find being in the classroom difficult.
At Delta, we really care about our pupils and their attitude towards learning. We pride ourselves on creating exciting learning environments and innovative curriculums suitable for all ages and abilities. With Delta Bespoke, pupils learn together to become knowledgeable, self-aware, independent and emotionally regulated. Creating students who are happy with themselves, brave enough to cope and confident enough to make positive decisions, wherever life takes them.
Are you an enthusiastic individual who can bring this vision to life and make a real difference to the lives and future prospects of our young people, if so then this role is for you.
Your role within Delta Bespoke’s Adventure Learning team will be to teach at The Wymering School, based in Cosham, Portsmouth. The school teaches students with a variety of social communication and interaction difficulties, associated Speech, Language & Communication Difficulties (neurodiverse profile) and high levels of anxiety and/or associated distressed behaviour. We endeavour to help our learners to feel they matter and belong, enabling them to improve their social, emotional and academic skills to be the best that they can be.
Our Adventure Learning Centre provides an outdoor education curriculum for 9 -16-year-olds. Based in Portsmouth, the centre’s location provides us with a wide range of excellent nearby locations for bushcraft, stand-up paddleboarding, mountain biking, kayaking and more.
Delta Bespoke takes great care to recruit the very best people so that the services we provide are outstanding. We believe that the best work gets done in an environment that's enjoyable and which values, supports and encourages the development of its employees. With that in mind, we support our staff in achieving all relevant outdoor qualifications needed.
The role will involve planning and developing ‘out-of-the-classroom’ learning opportunities, using a wide range of outdoor activities for all students. The successful candidate will be responsible for the ongoing progress of their students. They should also have a particular interest in teaching students with special educational needs, including those with behavioural, emotional and social issues.
The successful applicant will be a highly motivated and flexible individual who can form positive relationships with students with a wide range of special needs in order to make a positive difference.
We are looking for someone who holds multiple relevant NGB’s (Paddle UK Level 2, RCI, ML, British Cycling MTB Leader etc). Teaching/youth work qualifications would be desirable and experience working with students of this nature.
Please contact Jack Galloway (Head of Adventure Education at Delta Bespoke) at [email protected] for more information and to arrange a tour.
The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, this role involves directly working with children and significant contact with children, and therefore we expect all staff and volunteers to share the same commitment. Please ensure a full work history is completed in your application form including any gaps in employment. Applicants will be required to complete a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check for this post prior to commencement. The Trust is an equal opportunities employer.
If successfully shortlisted the HR Department will also be conducting an individual online search including social media platforms of your ‘name, education and employment’, to demonstrate due diligence following the updated ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education 2022' guidance. The search will not form part of the actual shortlisting process and any concerns arising from the search will be discussed directly with you.
