Senior Instructor at the Mill on the Brue
Our happy, fun and experienced team are looking for an inspiring, energetic and credible additional Senior Instructor to help train, develop and supervise our Instructor team and to deliver high quality experiential learning to a range of groups.
As well as instructing, our Senior Instructors are involved in planning, training and overseeing the delivery of both residential and day visit groups to ensure quality and consistency. It’s a busy and varied job with plenty of opportunity for developing management skills.
The successful individual will be able to demonstrate high standards of communication, organisation, good humour, attention to detail, professionalism, self-motivation and be a team role model.
We are looking for someone who understands and can apply experiential learning principles, together with experience of working with primary school groups. Also having experience of working with older teenagers and adults would be great.

Location
Mill on the Brue is about two hours drive from Dartmoor, South Wales, great climbing on the south coast; and has a train station with links to Bath, Bristol, Weymouth and London.
We are an innovative family-run Outdoor Activity Centre in Somerset with a strong environmental ethos. Established in 1982, the Centre provides residential and day courses for schools, youth and student groups, and summer camps for unaccompanied children, with a focus on experiential education. We also host events and functions throughout the year.
Salary: – £ 28,462.72 + 5% pension contribution, financial incentive scheme, regular training opportunities and support in gaining NGB awards
Requirements
You need to be enthusiastic and passionate about the outdoors and the environment, understand experiential learning and have a minimum of 12 months experience in a similar role
PSI or higher (we use canoes) and valid First Aid certificate (minimum 16 hours) – essential
In addition, you must hold at least one of the following qualifications:
SPA/ RCI Award, UKCC British Canoeing Level 2 (Core) Coach Award, ML / WGL Award or equivalent, ERCA / IRATA
A driving licence would be desirable
