Successful candidates will have the enviable opportunity to live and work in a spectacular location near the popular Highland Village of Aviemore. It is the perfect location to explore Badenoch and Strathspey’s lochs, mountains, trails, and rivers as you train.

You will be trained by Lagganlia’s instructional team in one of The City of Edinburgh Council’s highly regarded Outdoor Learning establishments, gaining invaluable sector work experience, and varied training and development opportunities. You will also have access to advice and support to go adventuring in your own time to consolidate your personal skills and assist with the achievement of your NGB’s.

During operational hours (0845-1700 during term time) - you will either be shadowing and assisting instructors in the delivery of high-quality outdoor learning courses, participating in personal development as recommended by mentors (working towards relevant NGB qualifications), engaging in facilities work (general grounds, housekeeping, equipment, and facility maintenance) or being trained by instructors/lead instructors.

In addition to the core activities, you will undertake training and gain an understanding of the day-to-day operation of a Centre. Successful candidates will be required to support the delivery of 2 residential evenings per week (1700-2100 during term time), and contribute to weekend and holiday operations, 1 weekend in every 4 plus a share of holiday periods.

The development scheme requires a level of commitment from you for 12 months, in return you will be given a mentor for the year from our highly qualified staff team and your time will be spent either working alongside (shadowing and learning) your mentor or other instructors, structured personal development time, or being trained by our staff to work towards NGB qualifications. This will be a challenging yet rewarding experience which will prepare you for an exciting career in this sought-after sector.
