Freelance Instructor opportunities at Crowden Outdoor Education Centre

 

We are looking to enhance our existing freelance / casual register. Crowden OEC is a local authority run, Outdoor Education and Adventure Activity Residential Centre in the Peak District National Park. Located in the Dark Peak area we have direct access to the Pennine Way, local streams, reservoirs, and disused quarries, providing multiple opportunities for adventure.

 

What we are looking for

Experienced multi discipline outdoor leaders, as most of our programmes are delivered in the natural landscape, it is essential interested parties are comfortable working remotely in the natural environment. To express an interest please ensure you meet the minimum criteria for the role.

 

Freelance – Payment via invoice under contract.

 

Please note all engagement terms are subject to PAYE for taxation purposes.

 

All applicants must hold as a minimum of one of the following awards or higher levels within schemes

Hill and Moorland Leader - Mountain Training

Rock Climbing Instructor – Mountain Training

BCU Level 1 Coach / Paddle sport instructor – British Canoeing

 

Additional qualifications which would be advantageous

Archery Leader

D1 driving entitlement

Level 1 Local Cave Leader (Peak District)

ERCA Traditional High Ropes Instructor

Experience of Delivering - Weaselling, Stream Scramble, Team Building, Orienteering and other site-based activities.

 

What we offer from 1st April 2025

Freelance - Day rate for all day’s services engaged of £155

Opportunities for extended day with additional pay £49.60 + evening meal

Casual Employee – Hourly rate equivalent £17.50 + Annual leave entitlement pro rota.
