Unqualified Teacher: £21,730-£33,901 per annum (salary dependant on experience), plus generous sick pay and pension scheme. 32.5 hours per week, Term time only, Permanent

As part of the Delta Education Trust, Delta Bespoke manages and runs a series of Adventure Learning Outdoor Education Centres for young people who struggle in mainstream education settings. Our vision, Happiness in the Pursuit of Learning embodies our passion for creating learning and educational opportunities for students who find being in the classroom difficult.

At Delta, we really care about our pupils and their attitude towards learning. We pride ourselves on creating exciting learning environments and innovative curriculums suitable for all ages and abilities. With Delta Bespoke, pupils learn together to become knowledgeable, self-aware, independent and emotionally regulated. Creating students who are happy with themselves, brave enough to cope and confident enough to make positive decisions, wherever life takes them.

Are you an enthusiastic outdoor instructor who can bring this vision to life and make a real difference to the lives and prospects of our young people, if so then this role is for you.

Your role within Delta Bespoke’s Adventure Learning team will be to teach classes at Harbour School Dorset. The school is a state-funded Special School for pupils with ASC and SEMH. The school was founded in 2019 under the Free Schools Programme. We endeavour to help our learners to feel they matter and belong, enabling them to improve their social, emotional and academic skills to be the best that they can be.

Our Adventure Learning centre provides an outdoor education curriculum for 9 -18-year-olds. Based in Bovington, Dorset, the school’s location provides us with a wide range of excellent nearby locations for climbing, abseiling, stand up paddleboarding, mountain biking, coasteering and more. The school is based on a beautiful site with a carefully designed, new building, opened in February 2022.

Delta Bespoke takes great care to recruit the very best people so that the services we provide are outstanding.

We believe that the best work gets done in an environment that’s enjoyable and which values, supports and encourages the development of its employees.

With that in mind, we support our staff in achieving relevant outdoor qualifications needed for the role. We are looking for someone who is able to run both outdoor activities and forest school, examples of qualifications we’re looking for – Paddle UK Paddlesport Leader +, RCI, ML, British Cycling or MIAS MTB Leader, NCC Guide, Forest School etc. Teaching/youth work qualifications would be desirable and experience working with students of this nature.

The role will involve planning and developing ‘out-of-the-classroom’ learning opportunities, using a wide range of outdoor activities for all students. The successful candidate will be responsible for the engagement and ongoing progress of their students. They should also have a particular interest in teaching students with special educational needs, including those with behavioural, emotional and social issues.

The successful applicant will be a highly motivated and flexible individual who can form positive relationships with students with a wide range of special needs in order to make a positive difference. Resilience and a sense of humour is a must.

If successful, you will have the opportunity to develop your career in a School and Delta Education Trust. Our ethos is encompassed in our vision “Learning together in pursuit of happiness”. We put this into practice by ensuring:

  • All decisions are made in the best interests of staff, students and families.
  • High support, high challenge and evidence informed in everything we do.
  • We work collaboratively and make team, not individual, decisions.
  • We acknowledge our mistakes and use them to learn and improve.
  • We are always open to learning and seeking new ideas.
