The conference starts at 10.00 am on Friday 15th October with arrival, networking, trade stands & refreshments and closes on Saturday 16th October at 4.30pm.

  • Saturday 16th Oct 2010 - Up to 30 Practical, Ethical & Professional CPD Workshops - For outdoor practitioners at all levels including full time, part time and volunteer
  • You can attend both days (with dinner, evening events, B&B) or indiviudal days.
  • NOTE: The full two days with en-suite B&B and dinner at the venue hotel is filling up fast. We advise earliest booking for this option.

Venue

scalford

  • Scalford Hall is an excellent venue with comfortable en-suite rooms and quality catering. It is a country house hotel with 9 training rooms and 15 syndicate rooms all set in extensive grounds. We have sole use of the hall for the event.

Exhibition/Trade Space

  • Exhibition and trade stands will form an integral part of the conference providing opportunities for retailers, education providers and bodies supporting the outdoor learning sector.
  • Prices include one delegate attending (no accommodation on site but we have a list of local B&B/Hotels)

Friday is designed for practitioners, senior practitioners and managers with an interest in the future development of the Outdoor Learning Sector (and their place within it). Strategic input and debate considering the role of outdoor learning in adventure, leisure and sustainability.

  • Dr Chris Loynes. Chris lectures in Outdoor Studies at the University of Cumbria and undertakes advisory work for the Paul Hamlyn Foundation.
  • Geoff Cooper. Geoff is the author of Outdoors with Young People - A Leader’s Guide to Outdoor Activities, the Environment and Sustainability and chairs the Adventure and Environmental Awareness Group.

  • Attendance is subject to full payment being received a minimum of 10 days prior to the event.
  • IOL reserves the right to alter, substitute, change or cancel any aspect of the event programme.
  • IOL do not accept any liability for any travel or other other costs incurred by delegates.

 

Bookings and cancellations:

Cancellations/refunds:

  • 31 days+ prior to the event: full refund
  • 11-30 days prior to the event: 50% refund
  • 0-10 days prior to the event: no refund
  • Should the event have to be cancelled by IOL or the venue FULL refunds will be given for all delegate fees.

Substitutions:

  • You are able to substitute an attending delegate for anther named person. IOL must be informed a miknimum of 10 days prior to the event.
  • IOL reserve the right to refuse acceptance of bookings.

 

 

 

Conference Archive.....

  • 2008 UK Conference & Professional Development Event. Fri. 17th + Sat. 18th October at Keele Management Centre, Keele University. A 2 day event for practitioners, managers and leaders from across the outdoor sector. The Conference was sold out a while before the event and was a vibrant, interesting and enjoyable 2 days.   • IOL National Conference 2007. Sat. 24th March at East Barnby Centre, near Whitby, N. Yorkshire. All the staff, led by East Barnby centre manager Steve Graham, were extremely hospitable and helpful and the catering team provided great food too.
