Trainee Outdoor Instructors (5 positions)

 

Start Date:  5th January 2009 (12 month contract – with the possibility to continue onto the Developing Instructor Scheme – see our website for more details)
Selection weekend:  Friday 5th – Sunday 7th December 2008

 

Pay & Benefits:

    • £300 per month
    • Board & Lodgings
    • Registration fees & log book fees to the relevant National Governing Bodies
    • Training & Assessment courses & fees for the relevant NGB Awards (as per below)*
    • £250 worth of technical clothing.

     

    There are 5 positions available all to start 5th January 2009 to last 12 months.


    During the year we will ensure that you become trained & assessed, IE you will be fully qualified in the National Governing Body Qualifications listed below.  Yes, all of the ones below, not some from the list, our commitment to you is HIGH, but in return our expectations of you & your commitment to High Adventure is equally HIGH.  Don’t believe us?  Check out our website, it has a Trainee Instructor Profile Page – showing the current status of our existing trainees and where they are up to with their professional qualifications.  The same trainees are also available on our selection weekend for your questions about how they found the year as a Trainee at High Adventure.

     

    *

    • SPA Training & SPA Qualified – you will become a climbing instructor!
    • BCA  Level 1 Local Cave Leaders Training & Assessment – you will become a qualified cave instructor!
    • BCU  Level 1 Canoe Coach & Level 2 Canoe Coach Training & Assessment – you will become a qualified canoe instructor!  Included with this you will also gain your 1 star, 2 star & 3 star Canoe, Canoe / Kayak Safety Test, 1, star, 2 star & 3 star Kayak.  This is the NEW BCU coaching system of awards.
    • MIAS Level 1 (Trail Leader) Trained & Assessed & Level 2 Trained (Technical Leader) – you will become a qualified mountain bike instructor!
    • 1st Aid – 2 day 1st Aid for the Outdoors qualified!

     

    Added to these will be training and assessment in
    High Ropes Course
    Low ropes Course
    Archery
    Orienteering
    Indoor Climbing Wall

    With training & continued professional development in all areas surrounding the work required of an instructor in a medium sized outdoor education centre.
    The position comes with domestic duties which should not be overlooked, the domestic duties involve working every other weekend in a domestic capacity.
    Your duties would include food delivery & cleaning the centre during the weekend.

     

    High Adventure Outdoor Education Centre is a medium sized centre sitting on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales (5 miles south of Skipton).  Catering for School & Youth groups, Stag & Hen weekend groups & Corporate groups.
