Head of Centre
Ghyll Head Outdoor Education Centre

Salary:  £48,000
Ref: SRS/GH

A breath of fresh air.  We learn. You learn.  They learn.  Open spaces, open minds.

Ghyll Head is Manchester City Council’s outdoor education centre.  It provides educational programmes that contribute to raising standards of attainment for the young people of the city.  The centre uses the space and beauty of its Windermere setting to inspire confidence, teamwork, respect and a love of nature in its young visitors.

As our new Head of Centre, you will need to rise to the challenge of developing business plans and strategies, building upon the successful reputation gained over a number of years to deliver the best possible outcomes for children and young people.

We are looking for a passionate believer in the power of outdoor education.  You will also be an imaginative thinker and a persuasive, diplomatic communicator.  Your professional knowledge of outdoor education should be matched by an understanding of the needs of young people from diverse backgrounds.  As well as a keen value-focused business mind you will need a sound grasp of the relevant legislation, marketing practice and performance management.

If this sounds like an exciting challenge and you would like to know more, then this is the job for you.
