Fairthorne Manor

Apprentice Activity Instructors

YMCA Fairthorne Manor is an outdoor education centre on the fringes of Southampton.  It offers an expanding range of activities for over 20,000 children and young people each year in its beautiful 111 acre estate.  With activities including canoeing, climbing, sailing and orienteering, as well as playwork, we offer both residential and day programmes to school groups and individuals.  We are now looking to recruit Apprentice Activity Instructors for the 2009 season.

We are looking for people who want to start their career in the outdoor education sector and want excitement and high rewards whilst securing relevant qualifications and work experience.   This is an apprenticeship programme, providing full training to work towards an NVQ level 2 in Activity Leadership as well as international recognised outdoor activity qualifications.  No previous experience is required.

There will be 2 intakes; 26th January 2009 or 2nd March 2009, with end dates being either 31st September or 7th November 2009. There will be a weekly allowance of £70 plus an additional £10 weekly bonus payable at the end of the season. Free food and accommodation is also provided.

We will be hosting a residential selection weekend on 21st  - 23rd November 2008.
