Vacancies for Trainee Instructors 2008 / 2009
Mendip Outdoor Pursuits provide activities and events for a diverse range of clients; we are located on the edge of the Mendip hills only a few miles south of Bristol. The centre is none residential with most our clients meeting us at various local activity sites. However, we do work throughout the UK and run many residential weeks.
At Mendip Outdoor Pursuits we pride ourselves on the quality and professionalism of our staff team. As one of the leading adventure activity providers in the South West we require our staff to be dedicated, motivated and fully qualified before they can instruct our clients in any activity.
We are offering an apprenticeship to two candidates who have the right attributes to make professional instructors. No previous experience or qualifications in the outdoor industry are necessary but may be beneficial. Trainees should be over 18 years of age and a clean driving licence is desirable.
The successful candidates will work alongside senior staff throughout the year; training and increasing skills, maintaining equipment on site for a proportion of the time and working towards NGB awards and ‘in-house’ qualifications.
Motivated candidates should get through at least two NGB’s if not more over the course of the year, enabling them to take sole responsibility for instructing our groups.
Wages for Trainee Instructors allow for time spent training and learning from other staff, they start at £80 per week but as sole responsibility is taken for instructing on sessions an amount of £18 will be paid per session.
If you are interested in the position then an application should reach us no later than 25th August. Following the application you may be invited to our interview days on 2nd and 3rd September. This is a two day assessment including both formal and informal elements; you should expect to get wet! Transport and tents will be available for those who need them.
The successful candidates will then be employed by Mendip Outdoor Pursuits on a 12 month contract running from Friday October 3rd.
