Operations Support Manager

World Challenge is now seeking a professional and resourceful person to provide the management focal point for our 24-hour Operations Centre and Equipment Stores.

As the original schools expedition company, World Challenge designs and delivers exciting outdoor educational programmes for school groups. 

 

Safety is our top priority, and we work hard to keep the right balance between maximum challenge and minimal risk on our rigorous and inspirational overseas expeditions.

 

The role…
In this challenging and central role, you’ll manage our Operations Centre to provide a comprehensive support and incident handling service to 300+ overseas expedition teams in various developing world locations.

Recruitment and management of seasonal Incident Response Managers.

Maintenance of resources and development of new systems.

Satellite phone and beacon administration: allocation to teams, security / storage and liaison with RAF Kinloss and ISOS.

Managing our Stores, you’ll also ensure that all school teams receive the correct equipment on time and within an excellent state of repair.

Recruitment and management of seasonal maintenance staff.

Management of the refurbishment and procurement of outdoor equipment.

Responsibility for health and safety within stores.

Your profile…

Experience within an operations room environment and operational issues.

Management of people, time and resources: confident decision maker.

Effective self organisational, time management and prioritisation skills.

Excellent communication skills within a fast moving and operationally driven environment.

Budget management experience with a customer focused awareness.

IT skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, experience of databases.

Experience in following strict health and safety and accurate reporting and auditing procedures.

Qualifications and/or relevant knowledge of the outdoor industry, an understanding of the delivery of expeditions, or a background in logistics and overseas operations and associated issues would be a definite advantage.
