TRAINEE INSTRUCTOR IN OUTDOOR EDUCATION
Benmore is a large Local Education Authority Centre set in the beautiful Cowal Peninsula and caters for primary and secondary schools, community groups, Princes’ Trust groups, and workplace, family and friendship groups.
As a trainee you will have the opportunity of gaining experience of working with groups, improving your personal skills as well as gaining NGB awards. Trainees are programmed to work alongside experienced, qualified staff so allowing for on the job training as well as programming additional training for themselves. As a trainee you would be expected to also help with evening and/or overnight duties, alongside other staff, approximately once a week. Time-off is 9 or 10 days off per month with flexibility in the system to enable specific requests. Accommodation and a food allowance is also offered.
Trainees should ideally have some experience and a reasonable level of skill in at least one outdoor activity area. They should be keen to make the most of opportunities to gain new skills and experience. We have a good record of trainees moving on into paid work as competent, skilled instructors.
