We work with 13 to 30-year-olds who have struggled at school, have been in care, are long-term unemployed or have been in trouble with the law. We have helped more than 825,000 young people since 1976 and support 100 more each working day. More than three in four young people we helped last year moved into work, education or training. We are committed to equality and valuing diversity.
The Adventurous Activities - Scotland team are recruiting for an enthusiastic outdoor professional who is passionate about the benefits of outdoor experiences with a keen interest in facilitating personal development, which will make a difference in young people's lives
Development Instructors provide a breadth of adventurous activities to encourage individual and team learning opportunities over a number of core Princes Trust programmes. Areas such as confidence building, personal resilience and challenge, achieving goals and relevant pre-planned outcomes are the primary aim of activity which is being delivered. To support this, applicants would be expected to have experience of facilitating personal development and the ability to engage and inspire through adventurous activity; to clients who at times may display complex personal and or behavioural needs.
We are looking for people who hold a minimum of two the following National Governing Body Awards:
Summer Mountain Leader; Single Pitch Award; UKCC L2 Paddlesports and BC L2 Mountain Biking Award. Additional qualifications are considered desirable.
Much of programme delivery takes place either in a residential or remote setting requiring evening/overnight supervision and group led self-catering, of which the development instructor would take a key role in supporting.
This position will require an enhanced PVG certificate, recognised up to date evidence of competence to deliver adventurous /residential activity and a willingness to continually develop skills required to remain professionally proficient.

- "We’ve had so many emails regarding our Freelance vacancies - we’ve now got a waiting list so thank you!"
- "As an organisational member of IOL Plumpton College finds many of its services very beneficial.
One advantage of organisational membership is that we are able to advertise vacancies here at the College in the OAA department on the IOL jobs page for free.
The annual fee for organisational membership of IOL is less than what some publications charge for a single advert.
The response rate to each of the adverts we have placed has been extremely high, to the point where we have taken the decision to advertise a couple of recent posts only on the IOL site.
The service and communication from the IOL team has been excellent on every occasion and adverts are online within 24 hours.
If you are considering advertising for positions within your organisation use IOL jobs page".
