Accreditation with the Institute for Outdoor Learning recognises the core components of a well-rounded and professional practitioner of Outdoor Learning.

Accreditation is a process that enables practitioners to demonstrate the effective use of their skills, knowledge and experience in their professional practice. More than 826 people have achieved accreditation with IOL since its introduction in 2005

What is involved in IOL Accreditation?

Reflective practice is at the heart of the accreditation process. Guided by a personal Mentor or Coach you get quality time to reflect on all aspects of your career so far and where you are going next. Three awards are available for individual members:

RPIOLRegistered Practitioner. Proven experience of providing outdoor learning experiences in specific contexts

APIOL - Accredited Practitioner. Professional facilitator of outdoor learning with a consolidated breadth of experience

LPIOL - Leading Practitioner. Champion of best practice, innovation and leadership in outdoor learning

Use of AP/LP IOL Logos

Accredited Individual Members are entitled to highlight their APIOL or LPIOL status with the appropriate logo.
